Hooray for Friday Favorites! It’s time once again for all of the internet to share the things that made our week just a little bit better. And to do a little victory dance. And to get the song “My Favorite Things” stuck in our heads. (Sorry.) So here are a few things I am loving lately, as I wrap up a celebratory kind of week with my fantastic family of four.
Our Weekend Getaway
Last week, Ry and I grabbed a little weekend trip to Des Moines without our children! It was so much fun and refreshed us in so many ways. You should go check out the story. It includes a celebrity encounter, a natural disaster, and cupcakes.
The Fourth of July
What kind of blogger would I be if I didn’t talk about the fourth? We had a great day swimming, picnicking, eating, playing, and finally watching fireworks!
I talked about this swim suit last week, and I’m following up with an actual photo of me wearing it. I’m feeling brave today.
I’m completely comfortable in this pretty bating suit, and I think you will be too. There are almost 500 raving reviews about it, so I know I’m not the only one.
The hat is my husband’s and not on Amazon, but the suit sure is!
Our kids were up later than they ever have been, and it was still worth it. #happy #exhausted
My New Planner – a dated Happy Planner!
I’m sure I’ll have a dedicated planning post featuring this planner soon, but I had to share right away because it is awesome. I knew I wanted a dated happy planner, and I got my wish for an early birthday present.
It’s so pretty, which always helps me feel motivated to use it, and having all the dates laid out with holidays filled in already makes me feel so much more organized.
I loved my undated planner but I’ve been known to mis-number the days of the week or forget to write down a holiday or two. The dated planners start with July, so right now is the time to get them! You’ll love being more organized for the school year. I know I will!
The best cookbook for the Instant Pot
(or your electric pressure cooker)
I’m so glad I got this cookbook last week. I’ve already made a recipe from it and I can’t wait to share more about it! Here’s the review I left on Amazon.
I’ve tried other pressure cooker cookbooks, and this one has me seriously impressed! The recipes are crowd-pleasers (and family friendly), with lots of variations on several of the recipes. For example, the recipe for tamales includes Barbacoa Beef and a Veggie and Goat Cheese option, built around the same cooking directions. She has several sneaky “hidden veggies” recipes like cauliflower fettuccine alfredo and a nacho cheese sauce made with butternut squash. Unexpected recipes, like infused honey, perfect brown butter, and elderberry syrup makes this book extra special. But my favorite part is the casual conversational tone and humor in the writing, and how these two moms just get how busy our lives are and how we might be storing that pressure cooker in the basement. GRAB THIS for the ultimate pressure cooking cookbook–it has everything (like a quick start guide) and the recipes are amazing!
So yeah, if you’re struggling to know where to start with pressure cooking, or if you’d like to find better IP recipes for your family, you can’t go wrong with this cookbook!
By the way, electric pressure cooking is summer-friendly. It doesn’t heat up the house the way an oven does. 🙂
Freebie of the Week
Eeek! This week I’m featuring a giveaway. Jami Balmet is outdoing herself on this one! Go ahead and sign up to win…
I’d be SO ecstatic if one of my readers won! (Did you catch that it includes a journaling Bible?) Go take a look at all the details.
And even if you don’t win, entering the giveaway gives you a $5 coupon on her homemaking conference…more on that soon, but it’s going to be incredible!
Tell me what you’re loving this week. And have a happy Friday!
