A Trip to the Zoo
My love for the zoo runs deep, because when I was a kid, my family would go to the zoo in Brownsville, Texas on Christmas day. We’d be the only ones there and it was always so much fun! Here in my home state, we have a beautiful little zoo in Des Moines. It’s perfect for my kids! Kai’s pre-k class is going for a field trip visit, and I think it’ll turn into a wonderful mommy-son date.

Easter
Well, of course, having a wonderful Easter is on the list! Last year our festivities didn’t go as planned, but it was no one’s fault. This year I’m just hoping for healthy kids, an egg hunt in our back yard, and a lovely time at church. A girl can dream!
Spring Vacation
We’re going to Kansas City for a little getaway in a few weeks, and I’m so excited! Our oldest is four, and we haven’t taken a true family vacation yet. It’s going to be so much fun…most likely. 🙂
The Tulip Festival
Every year we miss the Tulip Festival in Pella, but this year I’m thinking we should break with tradition and actually go! We love Pella, and the festival is beautiful, festive, and the perfect way to welcome Spring, Dutch style.
Um…since writing the above, I checked the dates, and it turns out we’re keeping up our family record of zero visits to Pella during Tulip Time. I really should have put those dates in my planner! #oops
Birthdays
Spring birthdays are all the rage. 🙂 My son is turning five THIS WEEK (oh, my heart!) and my hubby is going to be 40 in a couple of weeks. We’re fans of packing the holidays in back-to-back in this family. (i.e. Christmas, Sylvie’s birthday, our wedding anniversary, New Year’s) For Ry’s 40th, I’m at a loss. He doesn’t want a pricey gift or a big party, but he likes fun experiences. If you have ideas for me, share them!

School Registration
Okay, this isn’t exactly fun bucket-list material, but it’s a crazy milestone and we’re finally here! We’ll be registering Kai for kindergarten soon. Yikes! For those of you following our indecisive drama, Ry and I finally settled on private Christian school. We have a lot of peace about it now, but that was one of the most difficult decisions we’ve made!
First Ice Cream
I can’t wait for our tiny local ice cream barn (um, shed?) to open. They make the BEST stuff I’ve ever had! Don’t tell my parents, who are loyal to their local dairy barn and probably think I am too. Oh, wait. Mom is probably reading this. I’m going to get a text.
First Puddle Splashing
My kids love to splash in puddles, and I can’t wait to break out their rain boots again and let them loose!

Fly a Kite
We’ve never done this before, and I think it’s time to start. Let’s go fly a kite!
I think I’ll wrap this up, but making this list has me super excited about the possibilities. I hope you’re having a happy first day of Spring! What are you up to this season?

Your list sounds so fun! I bet that Tulip Festival is so cool. And nothing beats those local ice cream shops…always the best!
I’m so excited for warmer weather, and of course, ice cream!
