Hooray for Friday Favorites! I’m so glad we’ve made it through another week. In our house, this one was filled with snow, sickness, great moments, and preschooler antics. We’re looking forward to a nice weekend!

My Word of the Year

I love choosing a word of the year. In 2017, my word really helped me stay focused, grounded, aware, and intentional about how I was living day-to-day. (Crazy, huh?) I started by choosing a verse of the year, and my word came out of that. This year, I did the same, and I also worked on my goals as well. I’m proof that you can do as much or as little as you want to for the new year. 🙂

This is my verse for 2018.

You can get this as a high-resolution print (index-card size), along with 11 other verses, in my shop. I felt led to this verse in particular because we’re facing some changes this year. My son is turning five, and that means kindergarten in the fall. As of right now, we haven’t decided where he’ll be going to school.

God is growing my blog a bit, and I’m working on a devotional book. That kind of growth is exciting, but there will be moments when I’ll need this verse when it comes to writing. I guarantee it. 🙂

From this vere, I chose the word C O U R A G E O U S. Focusing on this word is going to make a difference not just in raising my kids and in my writing, but in every aspect of my life.

wrote about courage last year. The things I write about are definitely the things I’m learning!

That Time I Had a Personal Assistant for a Hot Minute

Earlier this week I talked to Ry about how I needed to make “5 billion” appointments for myself and was a bit whiny about how we could possibly fit it in and who would watch the kids. Well, he asked me what doctors I needed to see, and the next day at work, he looked at his schedule (as a therapist, it’s really tight and dependent on pre-booked appointments) The next day he surprised me with a text that he’d scheduled the appointments for me in February and would be home with the kids while I went.

I love my husband. This means that by the month of March, I’ll have knocked out three major doctors’ visits and will be chipping away at the goals I set when I shared about self-care for moms. It’s amazing how challenging it can be to find time to see the dentist once a year. Yikes! I’m so relieved just to have the appointments in my planner. Happy Valentine’s Day to me!

My Little Baking Helper

If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that I let Sylvie get pretty messy when I’m cooking or baking something special.

At the moment, her big brother is great at helping me when I cook. I do let Sylvie stir, but my solution to having a peaceful baking experience with a freshly minted two-year-old is to let her go to town with some bowls and a little bit of flour. It’s messy, but we both love it!

Getting Healthy

Well, this one isn’t very exciting, but we’re all on the mend from colds and strep. There’s been lots of medicine, kleenex, essential oils, blankets, herbal tea, and hugs as the four of us heal up. The kids’ favorite tea is Peppermint, which Sylvie calls “Peppa tea.” How cute is that?

My Favorite Pin of the Week

I love this encouragement from Leigh-Ellen of Parenting with Humility. She’s so insightful about how it can feel to keep up with housework and parenting when your dreams are also tugging at your heart. If that’s you, go read her words on When Managing Your Home Seems Like a Wasted Life.

I’m on Pinterest here, if you want to see what else I’m pinning lately. I’d love to see what you’re pinning too!

Tell me what you’re loving this week. And have a happy Friday!

  1. I love your word for the year! Courageous is such a good one. That printable is so pretty too! That was so thoughtful of your husband to do that for you. I love how messy she got. It seems like the messier the better for kids. I am also happy to hear they are on the mend. I hope you have a great weekend! Sierra~Beautifully Candid
