Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town
My home is decorated for Thanksgiving, but I’m playing Christmas music from time to time, especially while I cook dinner. This has prompted Kai to remember his favorite song IN THE WHOLE WORLD, and I can’t decide whether I’m delighted or afraid. He started belting out Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town on repeat without hardly taking a breath at dinner, and Sylvie thought this was hilarious. She was laughing and screaming, and Kai was singing at the top of his lungs, so Ry and I just kind of looked at each other and shook our heads.
The holidays are already making our kids crazy! This Christmas fever is starting early. #itsonlynovember
It’s kind of miraculous, but we were all mostly healthy this week. The only problem is, we didn’t mostly *eat* healthy this week. Halloween candy is just way too tempting. There are peanut butter cups in our house, and they are my one true weakness.
Just kidding. I have a lot more weaknesses.
Not to shock you, but I focused on planning for the holidays this week and made some great progress. My calendar is full, and I’m officially prepared to be prepared for the season.
I ordered Christmas cards this week, and I’m on pins and needles about how they look. Eek!
Halloween Discount Shopping
True story: I accidentally stumbled upon Halloween decor and costumes at 75% off last weekend while I was out shopping with the family. I’ve never been savvy enough to intentionally catch deep discounts like this after a holiday, but I have to say, it feels really good! Hmmm…maybe I should actually TRY to do this more often.
Here’s what I scored.
- A witches’ brew Yankee Candle in a gorgeous glass jar. I love how it’s perfect just to display, but it has a spicy, earthy scent that I’m looking forward to enjoying come October 2018. I didn’t realize how in demand these candles are when I picked it up. Many are sold out, but I did find a spooky pack of 12 Witches Brew tea lights on sale at 50% off for you!
- A Cinderella costume for Sylvie. It fits her now, but I think it’ll still fit next year, though the skirt will be shorter. She wore Belle’s dress for Halloween this year (made by the same company) so I knew we’d both approve.
- The cutest dress/top for Sylvie featuring a black cat with sparkly gold dots. (I’m a little jealous!) I need your opinions on this one–could it be worn outside of October?
I realize these are all for the girls, but Kai turned us down on the costumes we showed him, and we decided we’d wait to see what he’s into next year.
EDIT: Thursday morning, Kai saw Sylvie’s Cinderella dress and asked to go back to the store for a costume. After warning him that the Halloween stuff may be all gone, we scored three more costumes, a Halloween book, and a few more things at 90% off. That’s as close to free as it gets! I’m now an after-holiday shopper for life.
