Friday Favorites: Spooks and Sickness

This week there was a subtle theme weaving its way through our lives. I wrote about it on Monday, then got spooky with Halloween crafts that are quite cute, actually. On Tuesday Sylvie developed a fever, and then I got sick too. We weren’t sleeping, which is frightening enough. Then I was worried that Kai might not be able to go on his pre-k field trip this week. There was a lot on my mind, but mostly I was concerned about obtaining some NyQuil.

Where was I? Oh, yeah, things that are my FAVORITE for the week. Maybe I should write a post about complaining soon.

ONE

Family Night at the Playground

Last week, we went to the local playground and had such a good time. Both our kids are old enough now to enjoy it and both the kids climbed things, rode the merry-go-round endlessly, and had fun on the swings.

TWO

Cuddles

My sweet girl Sylvie is usually *quite* active, but her sickness meant that she slowed down and relaxed with me a bit more than normal. There’s the silver lining for you.

THREE

Low-Key Reading Material

Just when fevers were starting to break, this showed up in my mailbox and just seeing it made me happy.

FOUR

This Boy

Kai was so sweet while the girls were sick. All I had to do was ask him to give me a puppet show, and he’d launch into a story with his stuffed animals. Once, he sat with me on the couch while we played I Spy.

He also charmed all the staff at his pre-k checkup, and bravely made it through his shots. He’s been getting much better about playing with his sister too. I’m one proud mama.

My Favorite Pin of the Week: Why You Struggle to Rest

My favorite pin of the week comes from Renovated Faith and it’s called Why You Struggle to Rest. Check out this insight:

Rest isn’t just something we do on Saturday afternoons.  God wants us to experience His rest during the entire week by giving Him our burdens.  When my focus during the week was on my to-do list or my fears, it was difficult for me to redirect my focus on Him on the weekends.

I’m new to Karin’s blog, but I’m so glad I found it! Go check out her post here or click on the image below.

By the way, did you guess the theme of our week? It was fear. 😨

Happy October (on Sunday) and I hope your days are spooky in a fun way…not in a way that makes you need to run to the store for NyQuil.

I’m on Pinterest here, if you want to see what else I’m pinning lately. I’d love to see what you’re pinning too!

  1. I’m so sorry you guys got sick!! That is no fun, but extra snuggles are always nice. 🙂 BH&G always makes me so happy. Even in high school I loved their magazine and have so many pictures ripped out and stored in a binder. I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!
