A perfectly clean sink. A pair of comfy slippers. A gentle Spring breeze.
Sometimes, ladies, the wholesome, simple pleasures of this life just won’t do. Sometimes you need guilty pleasures. Well, I’m sharing all about mine as part of Andrea’s Show and Tell Tuesday, mostly in hopes that you’ll do the same. This is a safe space, a judgement-free zone. Just sit back and get ready for the embarrassment.
Here’s something you could do to really get the full picture of my guilty pleasures: watch the opening scene of Bridget Jones’ Baby. She’s rapping, she’s eating a cupcake, she’s drinking wine, she’s in her pajamas, and she does not care.
You can check all of those things off on my list. Seriously.
✔ Cheesy Rap from the early ’90s
✔ Lounge wear
✔ Chick Flicks
✔ Every Bridget Jones Movie (there’s more cursing in these movies than I usually go for)
But there are a few more things I need to add to the list…
It is with great regret that I admit my newfound love of the Quarter Pounder. I apologize to my former self, who envisioned an all-organic motherhood. I’m also issuing a formal apology to my dear friend Heather, who is actually pulling off a crunchy mom life with great success, and probably imagines I’m doing the same.
Here’s how it started.
We had a second child. Her first year was extra crazy. I didn’t have time, energy, or the desire to cook. Then we discovered Kai loves happy meals, and then I tried the Quarter Pounder, and it was all over. So now we occasionally grab fast food when I’m having an extra tough day getting dinner on the table. Don’t we all?
Keeping Up with the Kardashians
While I was nursing Sylvie, my guilty pleasure show was Keeping Up with the Kardashians. I kept telling myself I was going to stop, but then, that nighttime feeding would come along, and I wonder what Kim was up to. It’s hard to look away. And if we still had access (I watched on Hulu but we don’t have it anymore) I’d probably be sneaking in a little KUWTK.
The Twilight Saga
Yeah, I said saga…that’s how you know it’s bad. I’m not even able to call myself a Twi-mom, but years ago I picked up Twilight to have some light reading on a vacation, and I loved every moment of it. I’ve read it more than once, and I know I’ll pick it up again just for fun. I’m on Team Edward, by the way. And you are hereby forever sworn to secrecy.
Singing Christmas Carols in July
I LOVE CHRISTMAS!
I regret nothing.
Everything Chocolate, Beauty Products, and Pink
Yes to anything chocolate, I’m kind of a beauty junkie, and I love PINK things.
Yes, this eye shadow pallet can be found in my stash, and it’s all three.
Now that you have the full picture of the 12-year-old girl trapped inside my body, I hope you stick around. What are some of your guilty pleasures? Do we share any? Remember, your secrets are safe with me.
