My Planner Came!
Big news, people. The planner I ordered is here, and it’s lovelier than I ever imagined!
Some day I’m going to do an “intro to planning” roundup post. It deserves the attention because planning is a WHOLE WORLD of paper crafting. I’ve used paper planners before, but I’m new to this.
And so far, I’m loving it! I’m already having so much fun with creative planning, because it’s exactly what it sounds like: one part extremely useful and one part right-brained FUN.
I hate to quote anything related to Miley Cyrus, but planning truly is the best of both worlds.
A New Skill: Hand Lettering
I’m having so much fun flexing my creative muscles to learn brush lettering. I decided to learn more about it because I want to be able to decorate things beautifully…like my planner…without having to buy too many stickers and whatnot. And I’ve learned it’s a lot harder than just doing some faux lettering on my chalkboard. The trick is varying the pressure to get thin or thick strokes as you shape each letter.
I give myself an A for effort.
If you want to join me, I’m using this amazing YouTube channel to learn everything.
This summer has been crazy hot, but we’re determined to enjoy it, and for us that means grilling! Well, for me, that means making my husband go out in the heat to grill while I cook the sides in the comfort of air conditioning.
So, I’m going to give you some really complicated, healthy recipes.
This first recipe has three steps:
- Grill burgers.
- Top with your favorite spreads and veggies.
- Surround your burger with a PRETZEL BUN.
Because when the bakery has a sale and the pretzel buns are calling your name, you answer the call.
This next recipe has four steps:
- Buy a frozen cheese pizza.
- Top with your own nice meats and veggies. (Here I used meatballs and cut them in half.)
- Top that with extra mozzarella.
- Get it on the grill.
The result is the most delicious pizza you’ll ever have. It’s amazing how a frozen pizza can be transformed when you put it on the grill!
Last month, I mentioned that my little girl has taken to stealing my Alex and Ani bangles and wearing them like the glamorous girl that she is. And then I casually said I wish jelly bracelets were still around so I could give her those instead.
Well, my husband read that post and secretly kept it in mind, and a few weeks later: JELLY BRACELETS. All he had to do was grab a small stack of them for the price of a single dollar at Walmart! We gave these to her right after she had to get her 18-month shots at the doctor, and the tears disappeared.
She loves them, and so do I. 🙂
What I’m Pinning: My Favorite Post of the Week
This week’s favorite comes from The Mom Gene and tells the story of one mom’s journey in her life as a left-brain enthusiast who grows into the more balanced person God created her to be. It’s called Left Brain Meet Right Brain. Now Play Nice. I love how Jamie gently challenges us to be complete, multifaceted people who think outside of our usual boxes. As you might have guessed, it inspired my Friday favorites today.
Jamie’s blog is focused on special needs parenting with honesty, humor, and faith. She’s an incredible writer who always shares something I can relate to or be inspired by. Love this lady!
Go check it out, and if you’re a blogger, join her linkup on Sundays!
I’m on Pinterest here, if you want to see what else I’m pinning lately. I’d love to see what you’re pinning too!
Tell me what you’re loving this week. And have a happy Friday!
