Friday Favorites: My Four-Year-Old and Pinterest

It’s time once again for all of the internet to share the things that made our week just a little bit better. And to do a little victory dance. And to get the song “My Favorite Things” stuck in our heads. (Sorry.) So here are a few things I am loving lately, as I wrap up a pretty busy, scream-y week with my fantastic family of four.

ONE

My Little Man
Not only did this boy turn four this past Sunday, he returned to preschool for two mornings a week. I don’t know what it is about this age, but it’s almost like someone flipped a switch and he’s more patient, helpful, articulate, and fun all at once. He’s getting so big and I’m so proud of him.

TWO

Peaceful Moments
I may love the living daylight out of my children, but this week was especially scream-filled. My one-year-old, Sylvie, has taken to screeching in protest when she doesn’t get what she wants, or squealing with delight when she does. Either way, she is so LOUD that we cover our ears–and sometimes she does too. So, this week I was especially thankful for down time during naps and in the evenings (I watched Selena!) where I could recharge a little (cough, cough, SELENA) and do next to nothing, while listening to next to nothing. I feel like my ears have been assaulted. Say a prayer for my sanity.

worth every scream.

THREE

Burpy Bibs by Aden + Anais
Did you know Aden + Anais makes more than swaddlers? My baby girl has grown out of her need for them, but I posted about these bibs on Sunday as soon as I saw them show up in my Facebook feed. If your baby struggles with acid reflux, or you want to help out a mom with a baby who has GERD, I think they may be worth a try. Trust me…I know bibs.

not an ad, promise! 🙂

FOUR

See You on Pinterest
I took my pinning up a notch this week, and found more than 150 incredible bloggers with helpful, inspiring, interesting things to say and wonderful pins for me to pass along! I’ve got some fantastic boards on parenting, SAHM inspiration, faith, humor, book reviews…and I’m just getting started. I’d love for you to follow me and I can’t wait to check out your boards too!

FIVE

Favorites from the Web
This was another great week of funny, inspiring, and helpful posts across the web. Here were three of my favorites.

  1. Us Against Them {Because the Kids are Nuts!} from Welcome Home Ministry
  2. would anyone like a martini? or several hundred feet of cable? by Oh, Laura Darling
  3. Hold On—Now We’re Supposed to Take Our Kids on a Kindermoon?! by Momsanity

I have no mental capacity for elegant segues right now, so in other news, today is the 22nd anniversary of Selena’s death. 🙁 And, BTW, here’s a friendly remember not to believe anything you hear tomorrow….within reason. You’re welcome!

Tell me what you’re loving this week. And have a happy Friday!

  3. I think I need to use Pinterest more. It's always seemed overwhelming to me but this post convinced me I need to give it another try! I hope you get some moments of peace and quiet this weekend!! 🙂 Thanks for linking to my post! Enjoy your weekend!

  4. Aw Happy Belated Birthday to your little guy!! 4 is a good age for sure, but with our son around 4.5 he started becoming a little too defiant for our liking, he's 6.5 and I think it's finally gone, phew. And I hear ya on the scream fest! My 2 year old is the same way when she doesn't get her way, and she doesn't back down to anyone! Ha ha kids! I just started following you on Pinterest, I'm excited for new inspiration!!
