Friday Favorites: Cinnamon Rolls and Tax Returns

It’s my first time joining the masses that share the things that made our week just a little bit better. And I am soooo excited! If you’re reading this, it means I’ve made it through my son’s virus and my daughter’s sleep regression, and am are now basking in the glow of perseverance. TGIF!

Great Value Cinnamon Rolls
You’re reading that right. Not only are these cinnamon rolls ONE lonely little dollar, they taste like a kiss from heaven itself. I don’t know what the terrifyingly delicious magic is that allows these rolls to be so tasty, all I know is I’m okay with it. They blow poor Pillsbury out of the oven, and Pillsbury is good. It’s just that these are better than good. They have the perfect texture–not too doughy or dry, and the perfect flavor–cinnamon vanilla-y scrumptious. I know what you’re thinking. I should stop all other attempts at a pseudo career and become a food writer. Noted.

cinnamon rolls
Just yum.

Tax returns
Apparently my kids are making me money, and the government feels kinda sorry for me. I’m also okay with this situation.

The West Wing
I’m just slightly late to the party on this show, but only by more than ten years. So while it’s just a little embarrassing to rave about a show everyone’s seen and moved (way) on from, I figure there may be just a few of you out there who missed it and are pro-binge-watching. So let me suggest this: Watch the West Wing. I can’t think of a single type of person who wouldn’t like this show. It makes me laugh out loud regularly, but it’s also a gripping drama. The acting, writing…it’s all incredible. I’ve even learned a lot about the politics of the white house and its daily inner workings, but in a much more fun way than it sounds. Thanks, Netflix!

The Interwebs, Specifically BLOGS
Some fantastic reads this week!

Check them out. If you’re like me, you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll learn.

Your Encouragement
Over the last few weeks, I took a terrifying leap and shared this new-ish blog with people other than family, and I got such fantastic responses. Thank you for your encouragement, comments, visits, and general positive vibes that I can feel from across the invisible beams of wi-fi. You are the best!

I hope you, too, get some heart eyes over things like cinnamon rolls and the perfect dramedy. Tell me what you’re loving this week. And have a very Happy Friday!

  2. Hi Laura! I loved watching The West Wing – I appreciated the fact that it was fast-paced and the writers din't try to dumb anything down, and Martin Sheen did a great job as the POTUS. I just started my blog a few weeks ago ( and totally understand the leap of faith it takes to hit the "publish" button and send it out into cyberspace! Fantastically Four is a blog I will visit often 🙂

  3. Just popping in from the link up….so happy to find you! I just might have to try those cinnamon rolls this weekend. Thanks for the tip. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

  4. Those are great cinnamon rolls. I always go off brand for things like that! Generally, they are made by the large brands. Not sure if you knew that! Have a great weekend.

  5. Aw, thanks for the encouragement. Love your blog as well! 🙂 I know–who would have ever thought to give cheap Great Value cinnamon rolls a try? My husband, that's who. He did well.

  6. So glad to have found your blog! Thanks for stopping by mine 🙂 I had to giggle at the kids + taxes, I'm totally OK with it too! I've never tried those cinnamon rolls but need to!

  7. LOVE The West Wing! I just watched it two years ago for the first time. If you like podcasts, you should totally listen to Wingin' It. It's a West Wing podcast with two female hosts that is great!
